Playing at the Judith Wright Centre in an act entitled Syncretism, Chris Madak headlines with the support of Brisbane’s psych kraut experimentalists Secret Birds and the spaced out vocals of Adelaide’s Rites Wild. Mixing the sustained, repetitive sounds of minimalist drone with a fast-paced psychedelic trip, Chris uses synthesisers, guitar and oscillators built into glass jars to create his unique sound.

While some might find this distinct genre a little too alike to what an extra-terrestrial planting its spawn in your brain (in the nicest way possible) might sound like, Bee Mask is renowned for bringing white light sound to the next level. Transforming The Judy’s shopfront into a reverberating, 1970s psychedelic loungeroom, meander through this intense soundscape, catching Secret Birds’ local style of distorted guitar drones, heavy layers of synth and restlessness, and tropical drum machine trances next Thursday.
