Soothe your soul with the sounds of Sufjan Stevens at QPAC

Soothe your soul with the sounds of Sufjan Stevens at QPAC

The acclaimed singer-songwriter will be playing a one-off show, drawing upon his extensive back catalogue of iconic songs and newer material.

Sufjan Stevens launched into the world music spotlight in 2005 with his hit album, Illinois, starting a career that would see him produce some of the most emotionally moving songs of his generation. Despite his popularity, Sufjan Stevens has only released two more albums since his 2005 effort, The Age of Adz in 2010 and last year’s Carrie & Lowell, which earned Best New Music on Pitchfork and rave reviews from the greater music press. Possibly his most personal record to date, Carrie & Lowell details the life of Stevens’ mother Carrie, who suffered from schizophrenia and abuse at the hands of her husband – Sufjan’s stepfather Lowell.

Despite the immensely delicate subject matter, Carrie & Lowell is a tender and beautiful album, and Brisbane fans will be lucky enough to catch Sufjan Stevens when he performs songs from the record at QPAC on Friday March 4. Sufjan will be bringing a full band and an engaging lighting production for his performance, and will be supported by soul singer Ngaiire. Head to the QPAC website to book a seat or else risk missing out. Stop by local hotspots Maker, The Charming Squire or The Manhattan Line for a pre-show drink.
