Demi-pliés meet degustation – Spicers Retreats pairs with Queensland Ballet for an Australian-first

Fans of breathtaking ballet, bountiful feasts and boutique accommodation (or a combination of all three) are in for a real treat. Spicers Retreats and Queensland Ballet are teaming up for a series of truly unique experiences across three weekends and three luxury hotels, where intimate performances will be matched with exceptional cuisine, making for a one-of-a-kind getaway.

In what is shaping up to be a particularly groundbreaking partnership, Spicers Retreats and Queensland Ballet will be taking your traditional ballet experience into uncharted territory. Placing audiences and performers in new surroundings, three Spicers Retreats will host ballet performances over three separate weekends later this year, offering an experience enhanced by luxury hospitality and an intimate atmosphere. Gourmet food and wine, inspired degustation menus and champagne masterclasses will intersperse the ballet performances, with a very limited number of tickets only enhancing the exclusivity.

Each performance (curated by Queensland Ballet’s artistic director Li Cunxin) has been specifically chosen to reflect the retreat at which it is being held. Staged within the open spaces and natural settings of each retreat, audiences will also be treated to Q&A sessions and Queensland Ballet coaching sessions. This year Spicers Hidden Vale Retreat will play host to performances of La Bayadere and Swan Lake from August 3–5, Spicers Tamarind Retreat will showcase renditions of Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella from October 26–28, while Spicers Peak Lodge will host a memorable performance of The Nutcracker from December 7–10. Tickets to these incredible two-day experiences go on sale to the public from Thursday March 28 – head to the Spicers Retreat website for event details and tickets.
