The Spanish Film Festival arrives at Palace Centro
Winter just got a whole lot steamier with the arrival of the 16th annual Spanish Film Festival at Palace Cinemas.
Kicking off on Thursday June 13, the Spanish Film Festival will open with A Gun in Each Hand – a star-studded, award-winning film that cleverly depicts forty-something men and Spanish society’s changing gender roles.
Throughout the ten-day festival, Palace Centro Cinemas on James Street will screen the latest in Spanish cinema until Sunday June 23, with special events happening along the way. Wednesday June 19 will see the Jazz & Jewels event come to life with tapas, wine, jazz music and a special screening of heist caper Hold Up!, while the closing-night event – preceded by glasses of sangria – will exhibit the festival’s only screening of surrealist masterpiece Tristana, the revolutionary 1970s film exploring religion, politics and love.
