The free outdoor concert series bringing beats, bites and laid-back vibes

Thanks to our totally enviable climate, one of Brisbane’s biggest brags is being able to hold killer outdoor events all year round. Nothing much beats lounging around in lush natural surrounds with a soundtrack of live music and some tasty bites – it’s a recipe for weekend bliss. The Sound Society is setting up shop at the Roma Street Parkland and South Bank Parklands for a series of free pop-up events, bringing chilled-out Saturday evening soirees and lazy Sunday sessions into your weekend repertoire.

Happening quarterly in the lush surrounds of the Rainforest Green, The Sound Society’s return to South Bank is one we’ve been eagerly anticipating. These free-entry fiestas are a perfect way to spend a Saturday with your friends or fam, with hours of live music complemented by delicious food and ice-cold drinks. Local stalwart The Plough Inn will be running a (licensed) pop-up dishing out grab’n’go morsels and a selection of bevs, with under-18s permitted entry with a guardian. The sessions kick off on Saturday March 2 with a stacked line-up of musical entertainment featuring headliners Cheap Fakes, with support slots from Boatkeeper and Graham Moes.

Over at Roma Street Parkland, The Sound Society will be putting the ‘easy’ back into your Sunday mornings with a smooth selection of free monthly music sessions. Unfurl a picnic rug and soak up the ambience of the inner-city oasis while catching sets from the likes of Pending?, Yas Queen, Kayleigh Pincott Quintet and The Brookes Street Grind over the coming months. Pack some provisions for a picnic feast or sip on something fresh and delicious from on-site vendor Juice Power – however you play it, this is the perfect set-up for a dreamy Sunday.

The Sound Society has kicked off around Brisbane and is free to attend – the sessions are running until Saturday December 7 at South Bank and Sunday June 2 at Roma Street Parkland. For more details, head to our Event Guide.
