Party for a purpose at the Sea Shepherd Ocean Defence Tour

In the current age of rapid climate change, now more than ever the conservation of our oceans is a very hot topic. The crew from Sea Shepherd are taking over the stunning surrounds of the Queensland Maritime Museum on Sunday September 18 for the Ocean Defence Tour, a mammoth day of entertainment and education that’s set to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising.

Known for being an organisation that truly practises what they preach, Sea Shepherd are the warriors fighting on the front line to end habitat destruction and killing of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Their latest campaign takes the very badass title of Operation Nemesis, with a focus to take to the Southern Ocean and literally stop whaling boats in their tracks. The main aim of the Ocean Defence Day is to raise some much-needed money to keep the vessels fuelled and ready to go, ensuring that the bad guys don’t get away.

The Sea Shepherd Ocean Defence Day proves that you can have a rad day out without doing any harm to the planet. The event is an eco-friendly and cruelty-free affair with stacks of stuff to see and do. There will be live and local music performances, inspiring guest speakers (including captain Peter Hammarstedt), street performers and silent auctions to keep the entertainment ball rolling well into the night. Market stalls, vegan food vendors and even a pop-up recycled pallet bar will be up and running to satiate the masses in style. The Sea Shepherd Onshore Crew will be hanging out to answer questions and dish out info on the campaign in between joining the party themselves.
