The Scandinavian Festival celebrates all things Nordic

It’s hard not to admire the Scandinavians, whether it’s for their sleek design aesthetic or their egalitarian lifestyles. So why not show your appreciation for the culture at the Scandinavian Festival?

On Sunday September 13, you can indulge your passion for Scandinavia by doing more than just going to IKEA – head to the Scandinavian Festival instead. Held at the Danish Club in Newstead, the festival will showcase and celebrate the lifestyle and traditions of the Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Estonia.

You’ll be able to spend the day wandering amongst more than 50 different market stalls peddling everything from Scandinavian design, arts, craft and fashion, to its signature food and drink. Be sure to save room for delicacies such as Norwegian waffles and brown cheese, Finnish karelian pies and bullar, as well as traditional Danish pastries, cakes and breads, Swedish smörgås and other treats.

To keep the kids entertained while you’re sampling the fare at the Scandinavian Festival, there’ll also be a LEGO play centre, e-bike track, plus storytelling and Swedish floorball. And don’t forget to keep some gold coins handy to buy some of the festival raffle tickets for your chance to win one of more than 50 prizes.
