Santos GLNG City of Lights

Be hypnotised by Santos GLNG’s City of Lights

Throughout September, any person traipsing around South Bank’s cultural forecourt may become mesmerised by the shimmering goings on across the river.

Stopping strollers in their tracks each evening, Santos GLNG City of Lights presents its light, laser and special effects show on a barge just off the river’s banks beneath QPAC. Until Friday September 27, Brisbane Festival’s spectacular feature will continue to intrigue passersby and those enjoying a beverage in The Spiegeltent Garden Bar.

The free show was created by director Tony Assness, lighting designer John Rayment and water and laser designer Glenn Turner. With its enchanting soundtrack, falling water and bemusing live performances, Santos GLNG City of lights also showcases the work of talented Melbourne-based collective Strange Fruit. The group’s surreal dance and circus feats are bound to lock audiences into a dazed, trance-like state and have onlookers returning for frequent viewings. If you’re watching from a point in the CBD, you can tune into 95.3FM for the narrowcast, which will serve as a soundtrack to your viewing.
