Help your furry friends by feasting this RSPCA Cupcake Day

Let’s be real, our lives would be terrible without animals – the joy a pet can bring cannot be quantified. The only thing that could possibly compare to the feeling of patting a happy puppy is eating some scrumptious cupcakes, which is why the RSPCA’s Cupcake Day is such an important event. It’s time to get your bake on, invite some friends around and raise funds to help rescue and rehabilitate the thousands of animals that the RSPCA shelters yearly.

Every year the saints at the RSPCA help care for and re-home 135,000 animals through its numerous shelters and aid programs. Thanks to these selfless souls, thousands of kittens, puppies and many more furry friends find caring owners that can care for them, but – like any operation of its size and scope – it’s still an expensive exercise. RSPCA’s annual Cupcake Day – taking place this year on Monday August 21 – has long been one of the most fun ways to play a part and ensure the good work continues. On Cupcake Day, friends and co-workers gather together for morning tea, lunch, bake sales or cupcake-eating competitions to raise a bit of money for RSPCA’s various projects.

Donations have a real effect on the wellbeing of the animals the RSPCA looks after. If you donate $20, you can provide an abandoned kitten with a warm bed, a litter tray and a meal, while a donation of $55 buys antibiotics for a sick dog at an animal shelter. Every dollar helps, and who doesn’t love a good reason to eat half a dozen cupcakes guilt free? While you can have a Cupcake Day of your own at any time in August or September, you must remember to register to host your brunch or afternoon tea with the RSPCA to make sure your donations are accepted. Click here to register your event, then get baking!
