RESORT brings art and innovation to James Street

A stroll down James Street might usually leave you with shopping bags full and wallet empty, but this weekend you’ll be treated to art, music and tastemaking.

Take an urban vacation in the leafy boulevard of James Street this weekend and soak up the inaugural artistic and cultural event series, RESORT. Featuring insightful presentations, masterclasses, art installations, live music and more, the program launched with an international travel intelligence report from Monocle editor-in-chief Tyler Brûlé at 9:30 am this morning, Thursday October 23, and will close with a BYO-sunglasses nocturnal experiment on Saturday October 25.

Runway shows and launches from the likes of Molten Store, TW Fine Art and Easton Pearson will keep eyeballs busy today, before a member of the Acne Studios creative team shares an insider’s perspective with guests on Friday morning. From 5:00 pm that evening, James Street will transform into an open-air party where guests can take advantage of special offers from retailers, admire one-off collaborations and unwind with live music and art installations at RESORT After Dark. Enjoy a sleep-in on Sunday morning and join Dr Nadia Buik from The Fashion Archives and Tarun Nagesh, assistant curator of Asian art at QAGOMA, at a special preview of the upcoming Future Beauty exhibition from 11:00 am. In a massive coup for the festival, style commentator and blogging sensation Leandra Medine of Man Repeller fame has flown from New York to Brisbane exclusively to appear at the event.
