Life is a cabaret at the Queensland Cabaret Festival

Proudly presented by the Brisbane Powerhouse and Queensland Cabaret Foundation in partnership with Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland Cabaret Festival 2015 is back for its second year with a program boasting some of the best international and Australian cabaret artists in the biz.

Over ten dazzling days from June 10–20, the Queensland Cabaret Festival will dish up a supreme program of cabaret acts sure to delight, surprise, seduce, and amuse. With 47 performances across six Queensland venues, you’ll be hard pressed to stop at just one.

Kicking off the festival – gala-style – on June 10 is Voices of Vice, a line-up of local legends belting out songs of treachery, greed and debauchery. This celebration of naughtiness is delightfully decadent and will, no doubt, leave you weak at the knees. Get up close with Mary Wilson from The Supremes as she puts on a spectacular performance on July 11, while Australian Idol alumni, Rob Mills, will be taking centre stage with his show on June 14. Hear the confessions of a Cyndi Lauper stalker, drink in the award-winning talent of Broadway star Bradley McCaw on June 11 as he performs his show, Bendigo to Broadway, with a live ten-piece band or be seduced by the chansons of Baby et Lulu. Hard-core cabaret fans simply can’t miss Turner’s Turn on June 12 – an evening of songs from the celebrated career of show business icon, Geraldine Turner or witness Tyrone Noonan tackle cabaret in Vegas! Standards Reborn. If rock ‘n’ roll is more your speed, check out Only the Good Die Young on June 14, featuring Queensland winner of the International Cabaret Contest, Jessica Papst, as she expertly covers the classics by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendix or catch Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses on June 13. Check out the full festival guide and find out how to book tickets at the Brisbane Powerhouse website.
