the pitch and the china incident

Savour a Queensland Theatre Company double bill

By definition, a double bill is a night’s program of entertainment that features two main items or personalities. What this means for QPAC audiences is a chance to embrace not one, but two of the playhouse’s cultural gems in a single evening’s amusement.

The double bill arrives at QPAC’s Cremorne Theatre this weekend and is the perfect excuse to indulge in more than just one of the Queensland Theatre Company’s stage creations. From February 2 to March 9, the productions of The Pitch and The China Incident will be joining forces for a night of dramatic entertainment.

The Pitch ventures into the life of down-and-out film writer Walter Wienermann. Walk with him as he prepares for the biggest pitch meeting of his life – one of a story that is still without an ending. The play is Peter Hought’s creation and has been embraced as a witty, manic treasure, as the winner of the Green Room Award for Best New Australian Play in 2006.

The China Incident is the tale of a woman’s peril through an assortment of crises and too many phones. Control freak Bea Pontivec is a high-flying diplomatic consultant whose personal and professional lives finally collide in the production. The China Incident stars Australian actress Barbara Lowing in the main role.
