Creative collective – support local makers and artists at QAGOMA’S new online Design Market
Staying at home these last couple of months has meant our wallets have taken less of a beating than usual, though that’s not to say we haven’t made an online purchase (or ten). To help out local artists and makers (and help us splash a little cash), Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) has kindly moved its Design Market online. Get ready to shop ’til you drop …
Market lovers rejoice! QAGOMA will launch its online Design Market from 9:00 am this Friday May 15, showcasing Brisbane’s best in artistic design. The markets, which will feature more than 25 Queensland-based designers, makers and artisans, will run for two weeks only until Sunday May 31. The virtual markets will feature a bewitching selection of ceramics and jewellery, clothing, accessories, homewares and more. There will be sparkly jewellery creations from Yippy Whippy, handmade ceramics by Paper Boat Press and Shut Up and Relax, and work by other creative folk including Aqua Door Designs, Chantal and Corey, Claudia de Salvo, Corner Block Studio, Denz and Co, Illys Wall, Meekz Contemporary Jewellery, Paper Hands, Spun Mud, Sybella, Thea Skelsey, Two Plums Design, Jewellery by Xiao and many more. Everything purchased will be shipped straight to your door too – how’s that for convenience?
Now in its 14th year, QAGOMA’s Design Market will remain online until the end of May. The virtual markets will help local makers and businesses stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic, which unfortunately forced the closure of the physical markets earlier this year. We are keeping our fingers (and toes) crossed that we’ll be able to stroll through the markets again soon. Head to the online QAGOMA Store between Friday May 15 to Sunday May 31 to check out the huge range of Design Market goodies.
