Prado Up Late

Prado Up Late launches with The Panics’ Jae Laffer

As part of Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado, the Up Late series kicks off this Friday night, bringing a mix of musical talent and art together under the Queensland Art Gallery roof.

A popular way to soak up the latest exhibition showing at the creative South Bank precinct, Up Late lets you explore the artworks while also seeing some of Australia’s finest musicians play. Live Spanish guitar will commence the evening, soothing sore end-of-week shoulders, while a crisp glass of Spanish wine and a few tapas from the Sala Cafe will satisfy dinner urges. The first of a contemporary talks series will follow, giving insight into Spanish fashion, food, design and culture, with this opening week’s guest speaker Stephen Cameron of design firm Hassell.

Taking to the stage for the Up Late launch is Jae Laffer, playing solo material and songs from his band The Panics. The line-up for future weeks includes Chet Faker, Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side, The Trouble with Templeton and Emma Louise. Running each Friday night from August 31 to November 2, Up Late gives art lovers a chance to indulge in the Spanish wine list, absorb smooth sounds and see Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado after dark.
