Santa boat rides and twilight markets – Portside Wharf is full of festive fun this Christmas
The trees are being put up, it’s getting oh-so hot and our calendar is jam-packed with events – that must mean one thing, the most wonderful time of the year is almost here! So you can immerse yourself in the festive vibes, riverside dining and shopping destination Portside Wharf has got a smorgasbord of merry events – from Christmas boat parades and twilight markets, you’re in for a jolly good time!
With Christmas just around the corner, Portside Wharf has plenty of festive goodness on the cards to help you celebrate. Experience a Christmas lights display like no other when the inaugural Christmas Boat Parade takes to the Brisbane River near Hamilton on Sunday December 18. Commercial boats of all shapes and sizes festooned in jolly lighting and decorations will float and flow to a soundtrack of Christmas classics (we’ve got our fingers crossed for some Mariah). While all that is happening on the water, dry land aka Portside Wharf will become an entertainment hub of live music, food trucks, market goodness and much more. With activities kicking off from 4:00 pm, Portside Wharf is the perfect place to take in all of the action. We’ve heard the big red man himself will make an appearance!
Portside Wharf also has not one, but two Christmas markets full of stocking stuffers. For the first time ever you can nab vegan-friendly Christmas goodies at the Portside Twilight Vegan Market on Friday December 9. Shop at more than 30 stalls offering lifestyle and beauty items, plus some tasty veggie bites, including loaded katsu fries, pizza, tacos and much more! If you want to make sure you’ve checked your list twice, then get some last-minute presents at the Portside Wharf Twilight Christmas Markets on Sunday December 18. From the shop-happy minds of The Market Folk, this merry market will boast more than 50 stallholders offering limited-edition and one-of-a-kind wares. Take part in one of the three Christmas ornament painting workshops offered on the day and create your very own personalised piece to adorn your tree at home. Plus, there will be tasty treats and live tunes filling the air, adding to the festive atmosphere.
