Queensland College of Art reopens POP Gallery

Woolloongabba welcomed the return of POP (Post Graduate and Other Projects) Gallery last week, as it opened in a gorgeous new space on Logan Road.

Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art reopened its popular contemporary arts space, POP (Post Graduate and Other Projects) Gallery, in a stylish new space in Woolloongabba last Thursday July 30. After first opening on Ipswich Road back in 2011, the gallery was relocated to South Brisbane in early 2013 and renamed POP@AFG (POP at the Art Factory), before later operating as a pop-up in various locations across Brisbane.

POP Gallery has now returned to its original home of Woolloongabba, opening in a new contemporary arts space on Logan Road, between The Baker’s Arms and The Crosstown Eating House. The venue aims to feature up to 20 art exhibitions each year, showcasing the work of national and international artists, as well as local staff and students. The opening exhibition, Cast By The Sun, is a collaboration between the Queensland College of Art and the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, featuring the work of 32 photographers including Marian Drew, Angela Blakely, Renata Buziak, Jay Younger, Amy Carkeek and Shehab Uddin.
