Take in Brisbane’s best greenery at Parks Alive

Two of Brisbane’s most picturesque parklands will be hosting free events for gardening enthusiasts, music fans and lovers of the outdoors.

On August 22 and 23, Roma Street Parkland and South Bank Parklands will be hosting a variety of events for green thumbs during Parks Alive. A number of workshops and and talks featuring experts and television personalities will be on offer, including appearances by Gardening Australia’s Jerry Coleby Williams, Claire Bickle, Noel Burdette and Linda Brennan. Displays from the Queensland Bush Food Association, Native Plants Queensland and Queensland Council of Garden Clubs will be set up on the Serentiy Lawn at Roma Street, while South Bank’s Epicurious Garden will be hosting scarecrow making workshops and a number of gardening demonstrations from Phil Dudman.

In addition to the gardening workshops, Parks Alive will feature live music performances at The Amphitheatre at Roma Street. Bands performing will include The Golden Age of Ballooning, The Eagle Junction, O Little Sister and brass roots and New Orleans jazz bands will be playing on the Celebration Stage. Kids can participate in treasure hunts, face painting, hair designs and craft activities. Head to the Visit Brisbane website to view the Parks Alive program.
