Musings of Moreton evoked by Euan Macleod

Euan Macleod is an artist known for his recreations of the naturally picturesque landscapes of Moreton Island. Euan’s layered brushstrokes, muted colours and vivid imaginings evoke poignant interpretations of this familiar local setting. Such images as rolling storms, sunlit beaches and ageing fishermen standing amid the stillness of the surrounding sea are featured in the Archibald-prize-winning artist’s works, which will be on display at Museum of Brisbane in a new exhibition entitled Moreton Island, showing from Friday July 4 until Sunday October 12. CATS pounces onto the Brisbane theatre scene

Familiar to many, the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famed production CATS will come to Brisbane from July 4–6. Starring Marina Prior as Grizabella, the Harvest Rain Theatre Company performance will feature a live band, more than 500 performers from Southeast Queensland and the poetry of T.S Eliot on stage. As the cast claw, crawl and screech around Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, such classic songs as ‘Memory’ will be heard and the moves of celebrated choreographer Callum Mansfield will be seen. The event is set to be the largest production of CATS ever staged in the Southern Hemisphere. more
