Out of the Box Festival introduces young ones to the wonders of the arts

From June 21–28, QPAC will once again play host to the biennial festival Out of the Box, which nurtures imagination and creativity in children aged eight years and under.

The Out of the Box Festival has been one of the nation’s best programs for kids in the arts spectrum since its inception in 1992. The 2016 festival offers one the largest range of activities in the festival’s history, with events spanning across QPAC, the Cultural Forecourt, the State Library of Queensland and the Queensland Museum. Out of the Box fuses play with artistic endeavour, instilling a sense of the importance of the arts in life learning by creating engagement through fun!

In 2016, kids will be able to participate in a variety of events ranging from workshops to theatre performances that will educate and entertain simultaneously. Broadway’s Gazillion Bubble Show will astound young minds with an intricate bubble display, combined with lighting effects and scientific facts. Creature: an Adaption of Dot and the Kangaroo brings a classic Australian story into the digital age boasting acrobats, aerialist stunts and 3D technology. The Courier-Mail Piazza will be converted into a winter wonderland, complete with mini toboggan hills and plenty of snow to build snowmen. Kids can also get active in a series of wellness workshops, which offer meditation, kung fu, tai chi and yoga classes. Head to the Out of the Box Festival website for a closer look at the extensive program.
