Prepare for a snag throwdown at the Oktoberfest Sausage Challenge
The time has come, dear reader, for the true heroes of society to emerge. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. The Oktoberfest Sausage Challenge is coming to the Bavarian Bier Cafe on Saturday October 15 to separate the wheat from the chaff, but this competition ain’t no joke.
Not content with the usual steins and swines motifs that tend to pop up around this time of the year at German institutions, Oktoberfest at Bavarian Bier Cafe kicks it up a notch. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case in the sausage. Here’s how it works – six contenders can take on the challenge across three heats at each location. Prizes include a $1000 dining voucher for any brave souls who beat the record and a $500 bar tab at each venue for the fastest time across the three heats – certainly worth a bit of indigestion, no?
So, what exactly are competitors up against? Well we weren’t lying when we said it’s serious business up in here – the current record is held by a New Zealander who was somehow able to defy both logic and human biology by inhaling eight sausages in one minute. Let that image haunt your dreams. Granted, their cylindrical shape lends well to speed eating – if you’re one of those maniacs who can somehow open up your throat and just pour stuff into your waiting belly, this is probably your moment to shine.
