Gin buses, tastebud-tantalising fare and eye-catching art – the ultimate guide to Teneriffe Festival

We’ve finally arrived at the momentous occasion – Teneriffe Festival is descending upon Vernon Terrace this weekend! Bringing with it a bevy of brews, bites, beats and feel-good vibes, the street-wide fiesta is set to be one fun-filled day out. So you know what to do this Saturday October 23, we have curated the ultimate Teneriffe Festival guide. Here are our must-do picks …

Treat your ears to a hot-as-heck line-up of musos curated by The Triffid
To get the Teneriffe Festival party started, event-goers will be treated a specially curated line-up of live music at The Triffid Stage on Dath Street. Expect a dazzling performance from songstress and former member of rock band The Superjesus Sarah McLeod at 1:15 pm, followed by Queensland musos like Dopamine (2:25 pm), Bobby Alu (4:35 pm), Concrete Surfers (5:40 pm), Taleena (6:45 pm) and more. You’ll also find the smooth sounds of the likes of JB Patterson (4:50 pm), Karl S Williams (7:00 pm) and more filling the air with tunes throughout the day on the Ethel Street Stage. To finish off the festival, it’s only appropriate you get on the beers before groove-inducing duo Mashd N Kutcher hits the Dath Street Stage later in the evening (7:50 pm) for a killer set that is sure to get you boogying.

Hop on some buses
Next stop on the Teneriffe Festival tour is New Farm & District Historical Society’s Magical Heritage Tour Bus. Perfect for history buffs, learned locals and curious culture seekers, this fact-filled excursion will help you discover Teneriffe’s historical landmarks and colourful history. Prefer tipples over historical tales? Hop aboard Brisbane Gin Distillery’s double-decker bus, which will be full to the brim with a collection of botanical sips, including strawberry and eucalyptus infused gins, cocktail mixes and bottle-refill services.

Taste test some tasty nosh
Hungry after your dose of history? There’s plenty of flavoursome fare to savour at Teneriffe Festival, with spaghetti jaffles from Siffredi’s, holey delights from Unbearable Bagels, delectable gourmet burgers and mouth-watering German sausages from Dalgety 2.0 Public House, sashimi boats from Reef Seafood & Sushi, vegan pizza from Piante and piping-hot paella from Samba Catering all on the cards. You can catch us grabbing multiple plates, so no judgement please.

Quench your thirst with some boozy brews and worldy wines
Once you’ve filled up on some delicious nosh, wash it all down with an ice-cold brew from Green Beacon Brewing Co, which will have three (yes, three!) pop-up bars where thirsty event-goers can soak up the springtime sun. Grape juice lovers will be able to sample drops from some of the world’s greatest wine regions at the Riverside Wine Garden powered by Bacchus Wine Merchants, which will be filled with local and international wine.

Find out who let the dogs out
Calling all Bluey fans! Australia’s favourite Heelers Bluey and Bingo will be making an appearance at Teneriffe Festival, and they’ll even be meeting and greeting with fans on the day (for those who were lucky enough to snap up a ticket!). The pups will be taking to the Ethel Street Stage at 10:30 am and 12:10 pm – we recommend getting there early to secure your spot. We can hear the kids shrieking with excitement already.

Soak up some artistic goodness at Jan Manton Gallery
For a hit of artistic magic, wander through Jan Manton Gallery and enjoy an artist talk with Dylan Jones. The recently awarded finalist for the Brisbane Portrait Prize will be delving into his latest exhibition, Room with a View, and providing insight into his creative processes, inspirations and his unique depiction of the iconic Sydney Harbour landscape.

Secure some take-home treaties
The day is nearly done and you’ve soaked up all of the Teneriffe Festival goodness – but before you go, make sure to stock up on some sweet treats to take home! Decadent delights that must be bagged include Portuguese custard tarts from Lisboa Cafe, scrumptious donuts from Polish Sweets, Dole Whip soft serve from from Aloha Twist, and freshly made Spanish churros from Churrosbites_au. Sugar coma here we come.
