Lap it up – Noosa Summer Swim returns with a jam-packed program to plunge into
Don your togs and get ready to slip, slop, slap and go for gold – Noosa Summer Swim is returning to the ocean on Sunday February 21 for its eighth year. Welcoming water babies, fun-seeking freestylers and competitors with their eyes on the prize, the family-friendly festival takes over Noosa’s Main Beach with distances for every ability – all you have to do is jump in!
A bucket-list event for lapping laymen, wannabe Michael Phelps’ and those who want to tread water next to some of Australia’s best (Michael Klim and Libby Trickett are regular participants), Noosa Summer Swim is one sporting event that’s not to be missed. With race lengths to suit all abilities, the huge event kicks off
Those who want to test their aquatic skills can try out the Noosa 3.0, a long-distance 3-km challenge that is a favourite with some of the state’s top dippers, divers and frogmen. After a more leisurely couple of laps? Try your luck with the Noosa 2.0 (2 km), the most popular distance that entices more than 1500 participants to flock to the shores and jump in the big blue. For those taking on their first long-course event, there is even an option to start the race with just your friends in the Mates Wave – so you can battle it out for who’s buying beers later. First-timers can also take on the less lengthy 1-km short course, where swimmers of all abilities – from grannies to grommets – can slow-stroke through Noosa’s crystal-clear waters.
Eager to throw a cap on and plunge in? There’s a heap of prizes up for grabs, so swim like the wind! Head on over to the World Series Swims website to check out the full event program and register.
