Kick off 2021 with a bang at these stellar New Year’s Eve celebrations at Portside Wharf

After the year we’ve endured, New Year’s Eve 2020 is going to be one for the record books. So you can celebrate with delicious eats, sparkling sips and some truly killer live entertainment, Portside Wharf has got a huge line-up of events happening around the riverside precinct. From lavish Italian feasts and Mediterranean banquets to spirited seafood soirees and cheerful meals paired with live music, there’s something for every type of reveller.

If there’s one way to see out the New Year in style, it’s by the river at Portside Wharf with a champagne in hand. Lovers of Italian cuisine can finish off their year with a carb-fuelled cook-up at Gusto da Gianni, where there will be a four-course dinner full of traditional delicacies for merrymakers to indulge in. Think Coffin Bay oysters to start, slow-cooked duck on a bed of steamed pak choi and fresh blackberry sauce to fill your belly, and homemade Amalfi lemon tart served with creme fraiche and burnt sesame meringue for dessert. To get a taste of the Mediterranean, head to Byblos Bar and count down until midnight with an opulent five-hour tipples and tapas package that includes a sumptuous selection of Chandon, spirits, cocktails, wine and beer. Upping the culinary game will be a delicious array of canapes as well as a mezat menu to share, with a private DJ sure to get you grooving at your chairs.

If that’s not enough culinary goodness, @Mr & Mrs Jones has also got a five-course drinking and dining package that will get the party started. You’ll kick off this enchanting evening of eats with a glass of crisp French champagne before you dig in to a merry meal of smoked duck rillettes with charred peach, roast lamb with sweet potato puree and bourbon butterscotch beignets, while you listen to live tunes all evening. Seafood enthusiasts can make tracks to Belvedere Bar n Grill to indulge in a dinner starting with fresh oysters and sparkling wine, followed by a feast filled with pan-fried duck breast, beef wellington and chocolate cheesecake.

Those who want a more casual New Year’s can treat their tastebuds to a-la-carte Japanese bites from Sono, or grab some mouth-watering eats from Aamaya, Bamboo Basket, Burrito Bar and Ginga. Movie buffs can sit back, relax and enjoy some popcorn (and a free glass of sparkling) at a special screening of Blackbird at Dendy Cinemas Portside on December 31. Adding to the entertainment roster will be four-piece band Midnight Groove, which is set to perform all of your favourite party tunes from 7:30 pm – so you can sing the night, nay year, away.
