Celebrate New Farm Cinemas’ first birthday
The immensely popular film destination is celebrating one year since its highly anticipated opening with $6 movies all weekend.
It’s hard to believe that New Farm Cinemas is only a year old, as the theatre has amassed a huge following in such a small time. The iconic location was built in 1921 as the Merthyr Picture Palace, before turning into the Astor and then the Village Twin before closing in 2003. Owners of the Yatala Drive-In, the Sourris brothers, purchased the venue in 2013 and the duo set about revitalising the theatre with the aim of making a popular spot to catch new blockbusters and cult classics.
On August 1 and 2, the New Farm Cinemas is celebrating the milestone by offering patrons discounted $6 tickets to all sessions and all movies, all weekend (barring Gold Room sessions). With a swag of new movies now showing, any movie fan would be insane not to jump on this deal. Grab some popcorn, lollies and a cheeky choc-top and enjoy some of the latest and greatest flicks within the surrounds of one of Brisbane’s rejuvenated treasures.
