Bottoms up – where to celebrate National Margarita Day in Brisbane
Ah, the humble margarita – what’s not to love? The classic Mexican concoction consisting of tequila, lime and triple sec is an absolute staple of any decent cocktail list. Considering how universally adored this beverage is, it makes perfect sense that margaritas have their own special day – February 22, to be exact. If you’re a fiend for a marg – be it frozen, shaken or straight up – we’ve found some spots around town that are celebrating National Margarita Day. Bust out your best party shirt and surrender to the sweet, sweet lure of the tequila temptress (responsibly, of course).
Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, Coorparoo: It would be absolutely sacrilege of us not to mention one of Brisbane’s most beloved Mexican restaurants’ National Margarita Day offering. Pepe’s Coorparoo location will be celebrating the occasion by slinging its classic frozen margaritas for a mere $5 each. As you can imagine, a deal like that combined with the restaurant’s fine Mexican fare will make for a busy night, so book now to avoid any disappointment.
The Defiant Duck, Newstead: If you want to wet your beak and fill your tum with some tasty Mexican fare, The Defiant Duck’s National Margarita Day party will have you well and truly sorted. For just $35 per person, you can indulge in a selection of heavenly Patron margaritas and two sumptuous tacos – because drinking on an empty stomach is just downright irresponsible. Book your spot here!
Osbourne Hotel, Fortitude Valley: One of The Valley’s biggest drinking dens is going all out for its Marg Day celebrations this year. In partnership with Herradura Tequila, the gang is throwing a huge party that includes a dedicated margarita menu, a selection of succulent Mexican-themed bites (hello, tacos and nachos) plus a freakin’ live Mariachi band. If that doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know how to help you. Secure your spot here.
El Camino Cantina, Bowen Hills: King Street’s resident Tex-Mex haven was made with good times in mind, so max out your Margarita Day celebrations with a damn good deal. The cantina does a killer happy hour for its frozen margaritas from 4:00–6:00 pm, where you can slurp on one of four amazing flavours for just $7.50. It’s going to be a pumpin’ one, so book here to secure a table.
Story Bridge Hotel, Kangaroo Point: The Story Bridge Hotel loves any excuse for a good party, so National Margarita Day seemed like the perfect opportunity to get down. Start your Friday night off the right way by sampling your way through five specialty margaritas, all while kicking back to live music and DJ tunes.
Finn McCool’s, Fortitude Valley: Look – we know Finn McCool’s is known as an Irish bar, but the crew here knows a thing or two about how to whip up a mouth-watering marg (and how to throw one hell of a fiesta). Sip on a range of flavoured concoctions (hello, watermelon and mango) and Mex-inspired bites like tacos and nachos. Oh, and there will be a huge piñata ripe for the smashing – you have been alerted.
These are just the spots we’ve found throwing official events for National Margarita Day – we’re sure you can swing by any of Brisbane’s best bars and ask the amazing mixologists to whip you up a cheeky marg to celebrate on Friday February 22.
