Raise a glass – where to celebrate National Margarita Day in Brisbane

Whether you like them shaken, stirred or frozen, the mighty margarita is a great sip for any occasion. To celebrate the much-loved libation of cocktail connoisseurs from all over, Saturday February 22 marks the special day on the calendar where you have an excuse – nay, duty – to indulge in the classic Mexican concoction of tequila, lime and triple sec. If you’ve got a hankering for a marg, we’ve found some spots around our great city that are celebrating National Margarita Day. Cue some Jimmy Buffet and get ready to raise a toast to the ultimate sweet and salty blend!

Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, Newmarket: It’s no secret that Pepe’s take advantage of any opportunity to celebrate the wonderful Mexican culture, and National Margarita Day is no different. Pepe’s Newmarket location will be celebrating the occasion by slinging delicious specialty margaritas, as well as some awesome food specials. Gather your amigos, order your favourite salt-rimmed drink and tuck into a mouth-watering Mexican feast. There will also be a live mariachi band so you can move and groove all night long. Book now to avoid any disappointment.

STOKEBAR Q, South Bank: Stokehouse Q Brisbane is honouring the margarita this weekend by creating three bespoke cocktails, which can be sipped from Thursday February 20 to Sunday February 23. The drool-worthy margarita menu reads like a dream – there’s a Black Salt concoction, the Aussie Margarita (made with homegrown tequila Volando Blanco) and a Grapefruit Spicy Margarita – all just $19 each. The Defiant Duck, Newstead: Do you love the taste of a sneaky tequila lime tipple? Gather up your margie loving squad and enjoy a mad margie sesh at The Defiant Duck in Newstead, with tequila aplenty and delicious tacos served from 6:00–8:00 pm. For the movers and groovers, there will be live music to dance along to until the wee hours of the morning. To book you and your crew, head here.

Osbourne Hotel, Fortitude Valley: A Valley institution, Osbourne Hotel is going all out for its Marg Day celebrations this year, partnering up with Herradura Tequila. The iconic watering hole is throwing a huge party that includes a dedicated margarita menu (think classic, espresso, and strawberry and jalapeno), a selection of succulent Mexican-themed bites, plus a live mariachi band so you can dance the night away. Secure your spot here.

El Camino Cantina, Bowen Hills: Start your Margarita Day celebrations a little earlier with good times and great TGIF deals at Bowen Hills’ resident late-night hangout. The cantina puts on an incredible happy hour for its frozen margaritas from 4:00–6:00 pm on weeknights, where you can slurp on one of four sweet flavours for just $7.50 – there’s classic, mango, strawberry, tropical and even Red Bull to choose from. Plus, you’ll also score free corn chips and salsa to munch on! Throw on your sombrero and head here to secure a table.

Riverland, Brisbane City: Riverland is pairing up with Tromba Tequila to sling eight different margarita flavours and six frozen margaritas this Marg Day! If you’re not afraid of a brain freeze, you can upgrade to the bottomless frozen margarita package for $39 per person, which includes bonus Kitchen Kash to spend at Riverland’s container kitchens! There will also be live DJ beats from 2:00 pm until late. Make a booking here.
