Raise a glass – where to celebrate National Margarita Day in Brisbane

Whether you like them shaken, stirred or frozen, the mighty margarita is a great sip for any occasion. To celebrate the much-loved libation of cocktail connoisseurs from all over, Tuesday February 22 marks the special day on the calendar where you have an excuse – nay, duty – to indulge in the classic Mexican concoction of tequila, lime and triple sec. If you’ve got a hankering for a marg, we’ve found some spots around our great city that are celebrating National Margarita Day. Cue some Jimmy Buffet and get ready to raise a toast to the ultimate sweet and salty blend!

Osbourne Hotel, Fortitude Valley: A Valley institution, Osbourne Hotel is going all out for its Marg Day celebrations this year, with a little help from Patrón Tequila. The iconic watering hole is throwing a huge party that includes a dedicated margarita menu, a selection of succulent Mexican-themed bites (think tacos, nachos and all of your favourites), plus a live mariachi band so you can dance the night away. Secure your spot here.

El Camino Cantina, Bowen Hills and South Bank: Celebrate Margarita Day with good times and great deals at Bowen Hills’ and South Bank’s late-night hangout, El Camino Cantina. The beloved cantinas put on an incredible happy hour for its frozen margaritas from 4:00–6:00 pm on weeknights, where you can slurp on one of four sweet flavours for just $7.50 – there’s classic, mango, strawberry, and calypso crush to choose from. Plus, you’ll also score free corn chips and salsa to munch on! Throw on your sombrero and head here to secure a table.

The Glen Hotel, Eight Mile Plains: The team at The Glen Hotel love margs so much, they will be extending the Margarita Day celebrations all the way into the weekend. From Tuesday February 22 to Sunday February 27, you can indulge in a special margarita menu made in conjunction with Don Julio Blanco Tequila. There are four varieties to choose from including chilli infused, coco loco, spicy mango and Tommy’s margarita. Oh, and they all pair perfectly with the barramundi fish taco special. Hey Chica, Fortitude Valley: The Valley’s Latin American-inspired social club will be celebrating the infamous Mexican-born cocktail on February 22 from 11:00 am with some delicious marg flavours. Although the standard recipe calls for tequila, triple sec and lime juice, Chica puts a spin on the signature interpretations of the salt-rimmed specialty. Whether you’re looking for something sweet or spicy, mix up your usual margarita order with one of the inventive recipes. Book a table here.

Cloudland, Fortitude Valley: To celebrate National Margarita Day, Cloudland is bringing you a very zesty pop-up featuring a specially curated range of margaritas called Savour: Margarita. On Friday February 25, tequila tipplers will get a 50-ml sample of all three featured margaritas plus a full cocktail of your favourite – and tickets are only $20. Now, that’s what we call a bargain.

MAYA Mexican, Fortitude Valley: Rooftop restaurant MAYA is celebrating all things margarita from February 21–28, with a curated Patrón menu alongside a mouth-watering menu of eats that spotlights colour, fresh produce and light flavours. Plus, a little birdie told us that MAYA will also have a Patrón pop-up in the venue on February 28 – keep an eye out on The Weekend Edition for more deets!

Rita’s Tequila and Taqueria, Teneriffe: Lively cocktail bar Rita’s lives by the motto “If life gives you limes … make margaritas!”, and that’s exactly what the mixology masterminds behind the bar will be doing on Margarita Day on Tuesday February 22. You can expect $15 margs and $6 tacos from 12:00 pm until late. We’d make a booking, just to be safe.

Tetto Rooftop Bar, Everton Park: To celebrate the delicious occasion that is National Margarita Day, open-air oasis Tetto Rooftop Bar has created something truly special– a margarita cocktail tree! The tantalising tipple tower features three different margarita flavours – classic, watermelon and passionfruit – stacked for your drinking pleasure. To make a booking, hop over here.

If you can’t make it to these very-special National Margarita Day events, we’re sure you can swing by any of Brisbane’s best rooftop bars and order a cheeky marg to celebrate on Tuesday February 22. Bottoms up!
