Go on a journey of musical treasures with Opera Queensland’s My Favourite Things

Clear your calendar from August 5–6, as that’s when internationally acclaimed musicians Jessica Aszodi and Alex Raineri will join forces to present a collection of their favourite songs in the appropriately titled, My Favourite Things. Eclectic and enchanting, the program features songs from Kurt Weill’s cabaret to the hummable tunes of Stephen Sondheim, and much more.

A highlight of Opera Queensland’s dynamite 2022 season, My Favourite Things brings together a talented music duo who are set to perform some of their most-loved songs. Vocalist Jessica Aszodi and pianist Alex Raineri have curated a concert that showcases the sensuality of Kurt Weill’s cabaret to the popular musical numbers of Stephen Sondheim alongside Australian composer Keith Humble’s rarely performed ‘Cabaret Songs’. The pair will also premiere not one, but two new Australian works.

Presented in partnership with Brisbane Music Festival, My Favourite Things is part of Opera Queensland’s Studio Series, a selection of intimate concerts where singers can connect with audiences in a more personal way. A magical mix of a cabaret and a recital, these live music events allow artists to explore a diverse range of songs that hold deep meaning for them. To grab a ticket to My Favourite Things, head on over to the Opera Queensland website.
