It Ain't Dead exhibition

Mild Manners launches with exhibition It Ain’t Dead

The dreamy and hand-penned art of sign writing is being highlighted in new exhibition IT AIN’T DEAD.

As part of Brisbane Festival’s Under The Radar program, IT AIN’T DEAD will see an empty shopfront on James Street transformed into a pop-up gallery, along with an outdoor wall mural behind local favourite Jamie’s Espresso Bar. Curated by Matt Rabbidge of Nine Lives Gallery fame, IT AIN’T DEAD is the first exhibition under his new guise Mild Manners.

A roaming gallery project, Mild Manners has no fixed address or exhibition schedule. Leading a rent-free and timetable-less existence, Mild Manners has the freedom to showcase artists across many unique venues. Debut exhibition IT AIN’T DEAD will highlight the age-old art of hand-painted sign writing as it exists today within an industry captivated by the faster, cheap medium of the digital form. Featuring works by Edward Woodley, Numskull, Marty Routledge and Joel Birch, the IT AIN’T DEAD indoor exhibition is showing from September 12–16 at 65 James Street, Fortitude Valley, with the wall mural in place by this Friday.
