Midsummer’s final curtain call is looming
After sitting through a musical that had you tapping your toes, laughing, gasping and maybe even shedding a tear or two, the curtain call can be a moment of mixed emotions. On one hand you are thrilled that you were just part of the performance but, on the other hand, you want to relive the magic for just a little bit longer.
Visiting Australia from Scotland, the cast of Midsummer (a play with songs) is preparing to line up for its last curtain call this Saturday after a two-and-a-half-week season that has been full of laughter and as much love as a one-night stand can tolerate.
Not a musical and not quite a play, Midsummer has been branded a play with songs – a title that is indicative of the show’s mischievous plot. After Bob and Helena meet at a wine bar, a misguided one-night stand ensues. What starts as a few casual drinks turns into a reckless weekend of thievery, wedding crashing and even a little bit of Japanese rope bondage.
To find out how the bizarre series of events unfolds, you’ll have to head along to La Boite before Saturday night.
