Look up – Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is coming to the Ice Cream Factory at West Village

We’ve been spoilt like a kid in a candy store when it comes to exciting exhibitions popping up across the city lately and one that is sure to get culture-seekers excited is Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition. From October 27, this eye-popping exhibition is set to transform the iconic Ice Cream Factory at West Village into a reimagining of one of the most famous cultural landmarks of all time …

Those lucky enough to have visited the Sistine Chapel before the world locked down would have probably spent a fair amount of time craning their neck to catch the famous Renaissance frescoes by Italian sculptor Michelangelo. Since we can’t exactly high-tail it to Europe at the moment, we’re feeling pretty lucky that we are set to get a taste of Vatican City thanks to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition. This must-see pop-up, which has already been displayed across multiple cities in America, recreates the awe and wonder of one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements while allowing visitors to experience the renowned artworks from a life-sized and never-before-seen perspective.

The impressive showcase sees the ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel reproduced using high-definition photos and a special printing technique, giving visitors the chance to take in every brushstroke and colour of Michelangelo’s 34 frescoes. To give guests a real gallery experience, each image will be accompanied by informative signage and audio guides will be available to rent for an even more in-depth experience. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition will be housed at the Ice Cream Factory at West Village from October 27, 2021 to January 5, 2022. As the Italians say, “Il mattino ha l’oro in bocca” (the early bird catches the worm), so we suggest grabbing your tickets pronto.
