Update your wardrobe at the new Metre Market

If you were to take a good hard look at your wardrobe and be brutally honest about what you do and don’t wear, you might find you have a room full of clothes that others might pay for.

If not a room then at least a rack, and a rack is all you need at Metre Market. Chloe Maguire and Sarah Malengret were always on the hunt for ways to offload their unworn clothing. Finding it difficult, they decided to start their own market. This weekend’s launch of the Metre Market on Sunday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm allows fashion collectors and everyday shoppers to hire a rack and sell off their treasurers. An affordable and fuss-free way to clean out your wardrobe, making way for new purchases.

Inside the Morningside School of Arts will be all of the pre-loved clothing, while outside you’ll find a carefully curated line-up of local up-and-coming designers, artists and makers gathering to showcase their wares. The launch market will see the likes of Axsher candles, Jadewood Design, In Bloom, T-Leaf Collections, Evangeline, Oddnuts Apparel, Liar Swimwear and Ellamee Art & Illustration show their creations.

To keep you fuelled on your selling and shopping spree, there will be a number of food and drink stalls including the August and Lucy caravan bar, Mr America Hotdog and Fries, Koffy Trike and Diego’s Drop Iced Tea. There will also be entertainment at 10:15 am and 11:45 am with acoustic guitar alongside folk indie vocals by Melisma Duo . Metre Market supports sustainable shopping and provides a platform for the community to play their part in helping the environment by recycling their wardrobe.
