Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing

Pull out those pencils for the Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing

From Goya to da Vinci, some of the world’s greatest artists have dabbled in the power of the pencil as an artistic tool. The Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing is one competition that celebrates the medium, and encourages Australian art folks to get scribbling.

Dedicated to the sketch and scratch of paper, the competition is purely intended for those who wield a pencil over a paintbrush. Entry into the 2012 competition is open to all artists living and working within Australia, no matter your level of experience. Obviously intended for those who draw, entered works are required to be a piece on paper (or similar) and of one or a combination of different media – these could include pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolour and oil sticks.

A judging panel will narrow down the hundreds of entries to the selected finalists and winners, who are to be announced on Friday August 3. These distinguished artworks will then be presented in an exhibition at Jugglers Art Space August 3–17.
