Penny Arcade lights up the stage in Longing Lasts Longer

She’s sassy. She’s bold. She was once recruited by Andy Warhol to be a Factory Superstar. She’s Penny Arcade, and she’s bringing her latest award-winning show to Brisbane.

Hot on the heels of sell-out performances in London, New York and Ireland, internationally renowned writer, director and performance artist Penny Arcade is bringing her razor-sharp wit back to Australia with her latest show, Longing Lasts Longer. Bursting with energy, Penny’s intelligent, thought-provoking and often hilarious performance, which has earned both a prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award and a Herald Angel Award, takes aim at advertisers, political correctness, gentrification, aging, and everything in between. What could be described as part stand-up comedy, part memoir, and part manifesto, the 75-minute act by the exuberant 65-year-old is enhanced by a soundtrack inspired by four decades of pop culture, carefully choreographed to fit the words.

Conceived, written and performed by Penny Arcade, and designed and directed by Penny Arcade and Steve Zehentner, Longing Lasts Longer will show at the Brisbane Powerhouse from February 18–20 as part of the WTF 2016 festival of contemporary performance. The Brisbane Powerhouse is a great hub of culture and is also in close proximity to some fine eateries. Head to St Baxter on Brunswick Street, HONOR on the other side of New Farm Park or – if you don’t want to go far – Watt Restaurant.
