Local artists on show in Reframed at White Canvas Gallery
Conceiving an idea, reconfiguring and reframing it, and then seeing it develop is the process behind new exhibition Reframed, opening at White Canvas Gallery this weekend.
A showcase of 26 local artists, Reframed is the third annual exhibition of this group. From painting and photography to objects, installations and jewellery, this exhibition embraces a diverse range of creative practices and artistic mediums. Bound together as colleagues within the gallery environment but with their own individual creative focuses, the artists have taken their personal pieces and reframed or recreated them through acquired knowledge and understanding.
A celebration of the arts community in Brisbane – the different roles that gallery and arts workers and artists play as separate entities – Reframed acts as a platform for the broad range of art being created in home studios around the city. Exhibiting artists include: Mandana Mapar, Eryn Begley, Ari Fuller, Christine Houston, Chris Macpherson, Laura Mitchell, Morgan Kennedy, Nikki Roberts, Xiao Deng, Belinda Giddins, Rachael Sedgman, Kerryn Lane, Kristie Goote, Boosta (Brian Whyte), Julie Birks, Tessa Brown, Shanna Muston, Adrianna Collard, Andrew Sampson, Erin Fanning, Henri van Noordenburg, Rachael Parsons, Alithea Josephine, Michael Brown, Paola Milani and Ruby and Prankstar’s Kristy Morgan.
The opening event is on Saturday September 1 from 5:00–9:00 pm, or head along to White Canvas Gallery in Fortitude Valley from August 31 to September 11.
