Word nerds get ready for Lifeline Bookfest
Pick up a classic tome, expand your recipe book collection or invest in a bundle of travel memoirs for a decadent bout of couch-based wanderlust – the biannual book rummage that is Lifeline Bookfest returns to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre this Saturday.
Market bags at the ready – or shopping trolleys if you’re super keen – Lifeline Bookfest is set to cause grateful stiff necks from reading spines sideways and work biceps with too-greedy piles as more than 100,000 people pile through the doors to the first sale of the year. Held in January and June, Bookfest will take a new approach to its sectioning this year, with Exhibition Halls 3 and 4 divided into High Quality (prices as marked), $1 Section and $2.50 Section.
The High Quality corner will contain near-new and well-kept stock, as well as rare finds and collectables, while the $2.50 Section contains well-thumbed stocks and the $1 Section boasts medium-quality tomes. The orphan literature is divided into more than 20 categories, from Humour and Oddities to Literature and Classics and Vehicles and Warcraft to Philosophy. Running January 18–27, the fair will run from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays and 8:30 am to 8:00 pm on weekends, with a special sale day on Australia Day.
