Everything is all white – tickets to Brisbane’s most prestigious dinner party are about to drop!
Here in Brisbane we may not get a white Christmas, but every year we do get one white-hot party. How could you possibly resist the allure of an all-white dress code combined with a mystery location and a moveable feast? Combining mystery with elegance, this annual epicurean adventure is one that sets the city’s social scene abuzz. Le Dîner en Blanc returns for its sixth edition on Saturday November 4, taking over a top-secret location and filling it with food, merriment and white for the night.
If you’ve never heard of Le Dîner en Blanc, allow us to give you a little background information. The event started back in Paris almost 30 years ago when a group of friends decided to dress head to toe in white to make it easier to spot each other in the crowded streets – it has since evolved to cover nearly 80 cities on six continents. Le Dîner en Blanc follows a very specific formula wherever it is held, wherein attendees gather at a secret landmark to feast and frolic in a famously all-white dress code. It’s pretty much like a flash mob party – guests bring everything from the tables and chairs right down to the food, then disappear into the night leaving no trace of their presence. So chic! So mysterious!
As always, the registration process happens in three stages. Phase One opens on Tuesday October 3 for members who attended the previous years (lucky you!), Phase Two opens a week later on Tuesday October 10 for newbies who have been referred by previous attendees, and Phase Three opens on Thursday October 12 to the entire waiting list. These tickets go like hotcakes as soon as they are released, so to cater for demand the spring soiree has had a capacity increase for this year’s edition.
