Celebrate community on the hillside at Laura Street Festival

Celebrate community on the hillside at Laura Street Festival

Community isn’t a possibility without the passion of a colourful group of residents. In an ode to the idea of community spirit, the locals of Highgate Hill (and the city of Brisbane) are invited to help celebrate with the Laura Street Festival.

The street party will kick off from 1:00 pm on Sunday November 25. All ages are warmly invited to attend, with a heady line-up of entertainment and activities that encompass music, arts and culture.

This is the second year Laura Street Festival will be in force, its origins stemming from the goal to foster community entertainment, conversation and benefits amongst residents. This year’s program will include music, dance, performance, arts, workshops and presentations, as well as activities for the kids to enjoy. You can learn to unicycle or hula hoop, understand compost and weaving, or try your hand at fermenting food and fixing bicycles.

Musical performances will also include those by The Mouldy Lovers, Sunny Dread, The Rusty Datsuns, Lady Abundance, Fat Picnic and Greshka. All attendees are encouraged to bring along a sense of adventure, as well as some sun protection for the summer heat. Provided will be plenty of water, as well as food and drink in exchange for a small donation.
