Comfort food without the calories – learn how to cook winter delights at Laneway WV
As much as we adore Brisbane winter, the temperature drop comes with some serious temptation to tuck in to all of the naughtiest foods we can imagine. We’re willing to bet that if you haven’t spent a chilly night holed up on the couch devouring potato bake straight from the dish, at the very least you’ve fantasised heavily about it. While a little indulgence is fine in moderation, if we spend the next three months living off creamy pasta our guts may never recover. Enter the next instalment of Laneway WV’s green living month, a series of free clean eating workshops from the mind of Jacqui Toumbas.
If you don’t know her by name, odds are you would be familiar with Jacqui’s food – the local Brisbane legend is the founder of Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen and a certified girlboss about town. Her philosophy of using fresh, healthy produce to make delicious and nourishing food has seen her become a key player in our city’s dining scene. Jacqui’s approach is to make healthy food that tastes damn good, straying from the path to constantly innovate her offering. These clean eating workshops will give you some killer insight into how to make your kitchen habits healthier.
So what exactly can you expect from Jacqui’s clean eating workshops? The first weekend on June 23–24 will focus on tricks behind keeping your herbs fresh and vibrant during the cold months, as well as demonstrations on how to make a killer falafel wrap. The following weekend of June 30 to July 1 teaches participants all about winter warmers – comforting dishes that are hearty as heck but without the stodge and calories. If the thought of nourishing broccoli soup with dairy-free creamy basil garnishes gets you going, you’re in for a treat.
Ready for a kitchen blitz? Spots at Jacqui’s clean eating workshops are free but limited – secure your spot through My Guestlist.
