See one of the greatest operas of all time, La Traviata, this July

La Traviata has captivated audiences since its premiere with its sublime music by of one of the greatest opera composers of them all, Giuseppe Verdi. This July, it’s Brisbane’s turn for a taste of opulence, as Dane Lam leads the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and an ensemble of some of Australia’s most exciting singers. If you’re going to tick off one opera from your bucket list, let it be this one.

The second main stage show in Opera Queensland’s 2022 season is a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, which is coming to QPAC’s Lyric Theatre from July 14–23. Hailed as one of the greatest operas ever written, La Traviata tells the tragic tale of Violetta – a courtesan who longs to love and be loved by a man she is not allowed to have. A story of star-crossed lovers, a world of opulence and a bewitching soundtrack of operatic classics composed by Verdi? Count us in!

This production of the spellbinding romantic tragedy sees Dane Lam lead the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and an ensemble of some truly talented singers, including Kang Wang, José Carbó and renowned soprano Lorina Gore as Violetta. Directed by Sarah Giles and boasting some of opera’s most adored arias and stirring choruses, La Traviata is this season’s classic opera highlight. Come in the mood for champagne, but bring tissues for the ending …
