If you’ve ever dreamt of being involved behind the scenes in theatre or helping to shape the live performance landscape in some way, HWY Live may be the surprise plot twist your 2020 has been waiting for. The annual series of work-in-development showings, interactive workshops and vital conversations acts as a pipeline for new Australian work and ideas, meaning your participation could help a talented emerging artist get their brilliant idea on the stage. Running from November 5–21, HWY Live will introduce several free new events to the program this year, including short film and doco screenings in the La Boite Forecourt and several engaging outdoor activations.

HWY Live follows on from La Boite’s HWY Festival in March this year, which ended prematurely as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Cancelled works have now been reprogrammed and both artists and audience members will be welcomed back as the live program kicks off this week. The three-week series will feature six showings, three workshops and three conversations. Enjoy an evening of stage-to-screen adaptation pitch sessions, take part in a full-day workshop in multisensory theatre-making, listen in on a panel discussion about the onus of responsibility placed on First Nations writers, or browse online to discover plenty more events.
