Casus Circus pushes bodies to the limit in Knee Deep

Casus Circus pushes bodies to the limit in Knee Deep

Brisbane-based circus company Casus is back in its home town to premiere its thrilling, physically demanding performance, Knee Deep.

Playing at the Judith Wright Centre from February 18–20, Knee Deep features the acrobatic talents of Casus, a home-grown circus act made up for four insanely talented (and toned) performing artists: Natano Fa’anana, Lachlan McAulay, Jesse Scott, and Emma Serjeant. After mesmerising audiences around the globe for four wildly successful years, Knee Deep is set to wow Brisbane audiences with a series of acts that display astonishing feats of strength, balance and pure skill.

Picture this: two egg cartons under the full weight of an adult female. You’d expect them to crack into a scrambled mess, wouldn’t you? Not if Casus’ Emma Serjeant is the one walking on them. Throughout this jaw-dropping opening act, your brow will be furrowed as you consider how such a feat is even possible. In fact, your brow will probably be furrowed and your mouth agape for the entire duration of the hour-long performance, as you watch the troupe expertly push the boundaries of strength and fragility. If you are looking for a drink or a nibble near the Judy, wander down to The Apo for some sophisticated fare, Yard Bird Alehouse for something casual or Alquimia for a post-show cocktail.
