Kerry Tribe brings intriguing murder mystery to IMA
For a half hour, jaws will remain firmly dropped as an absorbing film by Los Angeles-based artist Kerry Tribe addresses one of the twentieth century’s most alarming and mysterious society murders.
There Will Be _____________. was filmed on location at Beverly Hills’ Greystone Mansion in the very rooms these furtive killings took place in 1929. The film by Kerry Tribe offers a series of explanations about how oil tycoon Ned Doheny Jr. and his personal assistant Hugh Plunkett were killed all those years ago.
When the infamous mansion was sold in 1955 by Ned’s widow, it became a popular Hollywood filming location where more than 60 feature films have since been set – from which Kerry has taken the dialogue for her work. The artist’s captivating piece, 30 minutes in length, will run from Saturday March 29 until Saturday May 17 at IMA and invites you to produce your own ideas about what went on only four months after Ned moved his family in to this iconic home.
