Jonathan Boulet brings sophomore sound to The Hi-Fi

With the release of his sophomore record just earlier this month, Sydney native Jonathan Boulet kicked off a tour this week, playing at The Hi-Fi in West End this Friday.

His new, lengthily titled album We Keep The Beat, Found The Sound, See The Need, Start The Heart captures hypnotic bursts of harmonies, energetic rhythms and soundscapes garnished with African beats. This 12-track Modular creation follows on from Jonathan’s 2009 debut self-titled album, which he played, sung, recorded and produced in his parent’s garage.

Also one part of Sydney indie rock outfit Parades, Jonathan’s musical vernacular crosses many instruments and styles, producing a colourful array of dense, heavy pop mixed with incessant percussion and chanting a cappella in his solo project. Bring this enhanced sound to the Hi-Fi in West End this weekend, witness We Keep The Beat… in the flesh, supported by local lads Oh Ye Denver Birds and Adelaide four-piece Wolf & Cub.
