Take a Valley-style vacation at James Street RESORT

We’ll be damned if this steamy weather hasn’t got us dreaming of a little holiday, and thankfully all of our prayers have been answered. The best part? Not even having to leave Brisbane (because Brisbane rules)! James Street RESORT returns for its fourth outing from October 12–15, celebrating the strip as a shining hub of style. Fashion, lifestyle, art and design collide to create one hell of an urban vacation – pack your imaginary bags.

One of the biggest talking points of this year’s James Street RESORT is the involvement of Aussie born and LA based creative visionary Jonathan Zawada – he’s the mastermind whose work you may recognise from partnerships with Flume and Romance Was Born. On the Thursday night of RESORT, Jonathan will be unveiling his spectacular installation ‘Blackout in a Glasshouse’. The work focuses on the very topical subject of lockout laws, shining a light on the positive aspects of our famous nightlife culture. Jonathan has also created a bunch of wacky still life artworks made from products found in James Street retailers, which will be on display for the whole of RESORT.

As well as the awesome fashion element, there are a number of key events happening throughout the week. The Trailblazers forum showcases bright industry minds such as Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales chatting creative collabs, and Art on James will turn the strip into a living gallery curated by Alison Kubler. Of course, no vacay would be complete without a little bit of evening revelry – RESORT After Dark takes place on the Thursday night and sees James Street turn into a tropical party paradise. Not to get you all excited but there has been talk of putt-putt, live music and amazing cocktails…
