Experience the beauty of Middle-Eastern cinema at the Iranian Film Festival

Several feature-length and short films from Iran will be screened over three days at New Farm Cinemas, giving Brisbane audiences a glimpse into life in the Middle East.

From October 22–25, the New Farm Six Cinemas will be showcasing a program of films that commonly wouldn’t see a release in Australia. The fifth Iranian Film Festival is currently touring around Australia, screening a selection of feature and short films that shine a spotlight on contemporary life in Iran, revealing the identity of the national and showing why the world is starting to pay attention to what Iranian filmmakers have to say. The program boasts eleven feature-length films and six short films from first-time filmmakers and established names.

The opening night film is What’s the time in your world?, a fresh effort from film critic and documentarian Safi Yazdanian. The film tackles issues such as the exploration of memory and the reflections on the past. Closing out the festival is Bahram Tavakoli’s I am Diego Maradona, a comedic drama about families from different social and economic backgrounds. Other films include Crazy Castle, Risk of Acid Rain and Death of the Fish plus much more. Head to the Iranian Film Festival website for a closer look at the films being showcased.
