A fluffle of giant bunnies is coming to Brisbane Quarter just in time for Easter
With Easter just a month away, we’re more than just a little excited for copious amounts of chocolate, a couple of days off work and the occasional hot cross bun (or five). One more egg-citing event to look forward to is Amanda Parer’s Intrude exhibit, which will see three of the artist’s world-travelling illuminated rabbits making their way back to our city. These big bunnies will be bouncing into Brisbane Quarter from March 29 to April 17, so clear your calendar now to ensure you can catch a glimpse before they hop away!
Peter Rabbit, Bugs Bunny, Roger Rabbit – there have been lots of famous bunnies through the years and we count Amanda Parer’s globetrotting cottontails as some of our favourites. Three of these cute creatures, part of a collective of large-scale illuminated art installations that Amanda Parer has showcased across the world, will be making their way to Brisbane Quarter later this month for Amanda’s newest fairtytale-esque Intrude art exhibit. According to the artist, the exhibit represents the animal’s contradictory nature, as rabbits remind us of childhood and innocence, while also being a feral species in Australia that leave a trail of ecological destruction wherever they go.
Those who are keen to see the giant inflatables at their illuminated best can make a night of it and have dinner at one of Brisbane Quarter’s delicious dining institutions like Persone, Tenya, Brisbane Phoenix and Phat Boy. Don’t worry if you can’t make an evening excursion, as these huge hare-like entities aren’t strictly nocturnal and you’ll be able to catch sight of them by day too. Whilst you’re there, you can get in the Easter spirit and sip on a hot chocolate from O’GaBee & Co Coffee, grab a tantalising Thai salad from Som Tum Bar for lunch or enjoy a refreshing bubble tea from Oiian Tea. Make the most of your visit with a cheeky staycay at W Brisbane, where you can nest comfortably in five-star indulgence.
Keen to see this primo piece of art for yourself and snap up a storm for the ‘gram? Hop to see the bunnies at Brisbane Quarter from March 29 to April 17, before they burrow their way to a new home.
