Pinkies up – you’re invited to an afternoon of opulence with High Tea at The Lab
The ever-elegant pastime of high tea has long been steeped in sophistication and The Lab’s latest high tea service pays homage to this treasured tradition. The afternoon experience has been carefully curated by executive chef Steven Jones and features a seemingly endless procession of petite plates, French teas and fine bone chinaware. This lavish tea party of decadence and delights is hosted on weekends only – here’s what’s on offer …
Nestled in the Treasury’s heritage building, The Lab’s arched windows and intricate detailing helps to create a refined dining setting. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the restaurant leans further into its polished persona, transforming into a tea room with ever-flowing tea, champagne and pedestals of delicate snacks.
With past tenures at London restaurants, executive chef Steven Jones had been inspired to set a new benchmark of high tea in Brisbane with this experience. The menu features a selection of sweet and savoury bites that embody the staple flavours of traditional tea services. Start with the likes of gourmet ribbon sandwiches, fluffy frittatas and petite quiches, then sweeten the deal with The Lab’s medley of traditional and sultana scones – paired with house jams and clotted cream – and decadent pastries by the in-house pastry chefs.
Treats are served with your choice of bottomless hand-crafted teas from one of the oldest tea blenders in Paris – La Maison Du Thé French. Non-tea drinkers can refresh with coffee, chai lattes or hot chocolates as well. If you fancy, you can enjoy even more decadence with the premium packages that feature a glass of Möet & Chandon Imperial Brut NV Champagne.
Though you never need an excuse to spoil yourself with high tea, this is the perfect experience for a special occasion. The Lab welcomes bridal showers, baby showers and other milestone moments to celebrate for the afternoon.
