Have yourself an unsexy chuckle with Midsummer at La Boite
A one-night stand is a quick, easy and uncomplicated moment of passion followed by an awkward goodbye and a cigarette for the walk of shame home … or so American rom-coms would have you believe.
But in the case of completely incompatible strangers Bob and Helena, the night before is only the beginning. Played by Cora Bissett and Matthew Pidgeon, follow their journey from the bedroom to a wedding bust-up, as they embark on a mad weekend of stolen money, car chases, midnight trysts and regretful hangovers during their post-coital affair.
Direct from Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre Company, this hilarious theatre concoction weaves elements of the actors’ real lives through the fabric of the piece, delivered via ukulele and song. A musical for people who don’t ‘do’ musicals, Midsummer is the geeky, antisocial hipster of plays (with songs), currently showing at La Boite.
