Join Beck and friends at Harvest Festival
It’s official – summer is finally here after a long hiatus, and with it comes the arrival of the festival season. Serving up a platter of musical (and creative) entertainment under the sun’s rays is this weekend’s Harvest Festival.
Purely designed to provide a more relaxing alternative to the traditional festival, Harvest will be held amongst the grassy knolls of the riverside address of the City Botanic Gardens. Essentially, the day is a toast to the creative scene, packaged as an outdoor fiesta to embrace the lazy days of summer ahead. With shade served in spades, and food and drink offered to punters by the truckload, the day out is intended to be one of relaxed enjoyment.
If not for its facilities, Harvest will impress audiences with its line-up – Beck, Sigur Ros, Santigold, Grizzly Bear and Ben Folds Five have all jumped aboard. Joining them will be nineties favourites CAKE, and ‘Come on Eileen’ creators, Dexys. As well as a wide array of musical maestros, you can also enjoy the accompanying Harvest Arts section, which will showcase performances including circus-vaudeville, burlesque and puppetry, video installation and comedy. There will also be a chill-out space for some much needed rejuvenation provided in The Secret Garden.
