Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart Fair returns for its 10th year

There is no doubt Brisbane has been taking steps towards better practices to reduce the effect of our collective eco-footprint. We’ve seen plastic straws banned along with the growth of reusable coffee cups and shopping bags, which is a great start to what we hope will be an ongoing global effort to make a change. This year Brisbane City Council is celebrating ten years of Green Heart Fair, our city’s biggest sustainability festival. Join the free festival on Sunday June 2 at 7th Brigade Park to celebrate the growth of Brisbane’s growing green thumb and learn more tips and ticks to ensure a bright future for our city.

More than 100 of Brisbane’s leading eco-experts will grace Green Heart Fair, bringing a hands-on day with workshops, green living ideas, eco-gardening and heaps more. Foodies will be spoilt for choice, with vegan and gluten-free options available – all in compostable packaging. Brisbane’s best artisans are joining the festival with crafty homemade goodies that are 100 percent locally made. Patrons are encouraged to bring a few essentials to the fair to ensure a good, clean day out – so don’t forget your hat, reusable water bottle, reusable coffee cup, your Go Card for public transport or a lock for your bike.
The whole family is invited, with heaps of kids activities to keep the little ones active – keep them busy with clay making, face-painting and giant games. The council’s marquee will have some special native visitors so keep an eye out. Attendees can mingle with Channel 7 Queensland personalities and have the chance to experience the pop-up news desk, while live entertainment from local bands will set the tone all day. If you’re planning to start the day off with a coffee fix, be sure to bring your reusable coffee cup to snag a discount. Be sure to head into the event early, as the first 2000 people to the fair can score a free native plant to add to their garden!
Green Heart Fair runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at 7th Brigade Park, Chermside. For more event info, you can find our event page here. Attendees are encouraged to travel by bus, bike or walk to the festival. Green Heart Fair forms part of Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart Week, running from June 1–9.
