GreazeFest

GreazeFest brings rockabilly beats to Rocklea

Bringing the coolest of cars, rockabilly music, vintage fashions and bikes to Brisbane, GreazeFest is the shindig for kustom kulture aficionados.

Friday August 2 will mark the 14th edition of the annual GreazeFest festival, which will feature lowbrow and pinstripe art, tattoo culture, markets, hot rods and the best of international and Australian rockabilly music. From the US, The Paladins is returning to Australia for a one-off reunion show at the festival and fellow American rock group The Chop Tops will entertain crowds with an enigmatic blend of rockabilly, psychobilly and surf rock.

Those feeling inspired by the kustom kulture movement can commemorate the festivities at Mimsy’s Trailer Trash Tattoo, a pop-up parlour set in a 1959 pink Qualicraft caravan, or get dolled up and snapped by Vestige Pinup Photography. On top of its musical line-up, the festival will host a Hot Rod Show, a Saturday Night Shakedown and a Sunday Night After Party. Through its Kustom Moon Disc Competition, on display in the Hula Lounge, the event will also be raising money for the RSPCA. GreazeFest will run until Sunday August 4.
